Many apologies we are now closed until 9th September as we are moving house and workshop! We hope to reopen earlier if possible.
Our candles will be produced from two locations in future - Benderloch in Argyll, and Kinlochleven. Our website will reopen as Dryad Candleworks (not Dryad Argyll) as we will only be selling candles moving forward, and we want to focus specifically on growing this aspect of our business.

Argyll's Ancient Forests
Forests and woodland cover nearly a third of Argyll. These are wonderful places to explore, with forest trails leading to thundering waterfalls, glorious viewpoints and archaeological features. Wildlife abounds, with red squirrels, sea eagles, beavers, otters and red deer all making their homes here. Argyll has some of Europe’s most significant ancient oak trees. These ‘temperate rainforests’ drip with mosses and lichens. Argyll’s finest forests and extraordinary ‘heritage trees’ have provided the inspiration for our candles, all of which contain therapeutic essential oils derived from woodland species.

What is a Dryad?
A dryad is a tree nymph or tree spirit in Greek mythology. Drys signifies "oak" in Greek, and dryads are specifically the nymphs of oak trees, but the term has come to be used for all tree nymphs in general, or all human-tree hybrids in fantasy.
Our inspiration comes from the ancient land in which we live, Argyll, in Scotland. Rich with ancient oak woodlands, mountains and lochs, the county as a whole provides ongoing inspiration for our handcrafted products, all produced at our workshop in Kilmelford

Why buy Dryad Candles
We are proud to say that our candles contain no carcinogenic paraffin or petrochemicals, no herbicides, no palm wax and no pesticides. Each candle is based on its own natural product extract blended with a selection of organic essential oils to give a unique fragrance.
By choosing vegetable wax for our candles, we are helping to support the environment, as it is a healthily renewable resource. It can be replaced at the same rate and faster, than it can be consumed. It is continually produced without damaging the ecosystem in which it is grown and is completely biodegradable.
Our fragrances are organic, essential oils and wildcrafted botanic essences, including wildcrafted infusions and artisan distilled oils from bark, needles and moss.
The creative process of hand pouring, infusing oils and inspecting each candle is our pride and joy at Dryad Argyll. When you light our candle, you will experience the magic of the woodlands that goes into each and every creation.
